The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

I had to make a separate post just for this...The intensity while being at the Tomb of the Unknown was incredible...the amount of respect shown was captivating...it was nothing like I have experienced before.

We picked the perfect day and time to visit the Tomb because there was a special visitor; a foreign dignitary. Later we found out that the foreign dignitary was the Australian Under Secretary of Defense.

While we were standing at the Tomb we were able to see the Australian dignitary present a beautiful wreath of flowers (made up of red, white and blue flowers) for the unknown soldiers. It was beautiful.

Also, I am not sure if this was done because the Australian dignitary was there or not, but they had a military band, soldiers and flags representing each branch of the armed forces, and armed squadrons from each branch standing near the Tomb....it was very touching.

I felt overwhelmed with respect, gratitude, love and faith...so I said a prayer for the unknown soldiers before we left.

Here are some pictures we captured...

Changing of the Guard...just and incredible amount of respect...it was amazing to be able to be there and witness the changing of the guard, the responsibilities that go with it and the special and respectful protocol/routine.
