Rocky's Steps in Philadelphia

Aaron and I decided we wanted to go to the Philadelphia Museum of Art....the steps that lead you into the museum were made famous when Rocky ran up them in his movie. I told Aaron that he should run up and I will video tape him...he wouldn't....but he said, I bet you there is some idiot every day that does it!..I said "yup! And I am going to be that idiot!" LoL!

Anyhow...Aaron woke me up at an incredibly early hour to hit the road...so of course, he drove and I slept! LoL! I slept almost all the way to Philly...On the way their (while I was sleeping) Aaron saw quite a few interesting things. First, there was tons of very thick fog...I guess it fascinated him....He also saw a dead deer in the middle of the freeway (the whole deer...not just parts of it)...and then a little while later when he was driving down the freeway, he saw another animal carcass with a bird on top of it pecking at it...now we are on the freeway, driving probably 80mph...right next to the bird...you would think it would fly away...I didn't!! It stayed on the carcass...he wasn't leaving it...LoL! And finally, he saw an Amish person...just off the freeway he could see the Amish person in a horse drawn buggy....that is when I woke up because he yelled, "I SAW AN AMISH PERSON!" So I was awaken from my sleep...and I guess I missed a few things, but I loved my nap time and I wouldn't trade it in to see 1,000 Amish people!

So I am awake now...what is the first thing I see? This...

The Boobie Bus! (www.feelyourboobies.com)...Are you doing it?? LoL! It is a little car promoting breast cancer prevention! I have never seen one of these in California!

Okay...now we finally get into Philly and we are about 1 mile from the Museum of Art...there are cars EVERYWHERE!!...and TONS of people (easily 100,000) walking around....we figured some kind of event was going on...Many streets were shut down and cops were directing traffic, so we just found a place to park (easier said than done!) and walked to the Museum...

But wait!! While we are driving around trying to find a spot....we come up to this...
A red and green light!! WTF!! Aaron was like, what do I do? I am like, I don't know! What the hell kind of driving goes on out here in Philadelphia!....I was so intrigued by this that when we were walking to the museum, I stopped and asked a police officer what that meant...he said "it means it's broke!" LoL!! How 'bout some flashing red lights people!

Anyhow, as we are walking to the museum, we are beginning to figure out what the big event is....it is the Philadelphia Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure (5k walk). There were so many people participating in the walk and it was really cool to see all the families out there walking for their mothers, daughters, grandmothers, friends, aunts or just any cancer patient....it was also really cool to see some of the participants wearing breast cancer survivor sashes. It really gave this part of our trip a special meaning since my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer about 1 month ago...Thank God it is gone and I hope that one day they find a cure so that they don't even need this type of event...but until then, it is great to see everyone come together for a cause as a community.

This event was right at the Museum of Art, and on the "Rocky Steps" were arches of pink balloons...there were tons of people sitting down on the steps...but it wouldn't stop me...especially after seeing that this event was for breast cancer...I was going to run to the top for my mom. Here is a picture of the steps and video of me running to the top of the stairs!

Happy Mothers Day Mom!! You are the very best mom in the whole world and I couldn't ask for anything better....you are always there for me and our family. Thank you for always being there, being my best friend and raising me to be the person I am today. You are the strongest person I know and I hope that when I have children that I am as good of a mom to them as you are to me...and I hope they love me even just 1/2 as much as I love you! I hope you have an amazing Mothers Day..you deserve it!
