Some of the new things we experienced are:
1. Hidden Mickeys- "A hidden Mickey is a partial or complete impression of Mickey Mouse placed by the Imagineers and artists to blend into the designs of Disney attractions, hotels, restaurants, and other areas. The most common Hidden Mickey form is the tri-circle Mickey frontal silhouette: three circles that form Mickey’s round head and adjoining round ears." (http://www.hiddenmickeysguide.com/)
While Aaron and I were waiting in line for Indiana Jones, a cast member pointed his flash light at me to look at my outfit (I was wearing Disney sweats, a Disney sweatshirt, and my Disney lanyard with my Disney pins) and since he liked my Disney outfit, he said he would show me were a hidden Mickey was!! I was SOOOOOOO excited!! Aaron and I had been looking for them since the last trip when we found out about them! One of the hidden Mickey's in Indiana Jones is in the "rope pull room;" The area, were it looks like there is like a well, and there is a rope, that says, "do not touch." On the large circle side of the "well" (I put that in "" because I don't know if that is what it really is) there is a hidden mickey. Here are a couple of pictures (one of the "well area" and one of the hidden Mickey itself). If you go and want to see it for yourself, on the circle, it is on the rim at about 4 o' clock.
2. Enchanted Tiki Room- enter sing songy music: the tiki tiki tiki room, the tiki tiki tiki room.....
We had never been in this room or heard of this attraction; The whole attraction is tiki birds singing. It is only about 15 minutes- it wasn't for us but children loved it. I got more enjoyment watching the children in front of us rocking out rather than the attraction itself.
3. Disneyland Railroad- Can you believe we have never been on this!!! (well, I have years and years ago, but never with Aaron). We decided to go on the Disney Railroad to see where it takes you and what you see and I must say it was pretty cool! On top of the great rest your feet get, you really get a cool ride! The ride takes you through the Disney towns and you basically get a view of the whole park as you go! Oh and our favorite part is when the railroad actually goes through Splash Mountain and you see the inside of that attraction and the people on it! It was pretty cool and we will most definitely be doing that one again!
4. Live Band- I always knew there were live bands at Disneyland, but we never took the time to slow down and enjoy them, but the music just grabbed us this time!! The band was AWESOME! The guitarist was amazing and they played a great variety of music.
Another thing about being able to visit Disneyland more frequently, you begin to notice different things about the park and attractions that you hadn't notice before. Some of those things are:
1. The skunks on Thunder Mountain Railroad that flip their tails up at you as if they are spraying you!
2. We didn't realize you could walk to the Mickey and Friends Parking structure instead of taking the tram; Aaron found a trail that leads you to the parking structure and so we used that quite frequently instead of using the tram.
3. I swear that they change Space Mountain every time we go there....it always seems like the turns are different!
4. In Indiana Jones, we noticed that when you cross the bridge, the one side is a HUGE skull with fire coming out of the eye socket!
The other thing about Disneyland is, whenever I go there, I can't wait to have kids! Aaron and I constantly talk about us having kids when we are Disneyland and we just love to see the happy families there. We have been talking about starting a family for a long time now, and whenever we go to Disneyland I get a little more excited about having children. We are both excited to start trying to conceive!
Speaking of Children, I know there is controversy over using leashes on children but I will tell you this: I WILL use a leash in a place like Disneyland. There are just too many people, too many distractions and too many children who will run away without saying a word when they see Mickey and try to catch him! While we were there, on Main St., a mother was screaming at the top of her lungs, "Makayla, Makayla, Makayla!" She had lost her daughter. I really felt for her; I could see the fear in her eyes and the worry in her heart. I never want to experience that feeling, and I am not saying a leash will 100% secure my children, but I think they help in a place like Disneyland.
Oh yes, and I forgot to mention, Aaron and I bought some pedometers to see how many steps we took in one day at Disneyland because we are dorks and just were insanely curious! We bought some cheap ones from Target and that probably wasn't the best idea because I don't think they were very accurate at all. At the end of the day, the pedometer said we had walked 16,246 steps; yes, that is a lot of steps but not that many for walking for 10+ hours! Next time we are going to bring some more reliable ones and see what we get then!
This was a really, really great day at Disneyland! We did so many new things and experienced a total different side of the resort. And all our firsts, in our life, and at Disneyland, are memories I will never forget!
