Yesterday, Aaron and I went to Morton's Steakhouse in San Jose with Aaron's parents to have a wake for Aarons grandfather (Marks Dad).
I have never, ever been to a restaurant like this and probably won't go to another like it for a VERY long time....and that is not because the service wasn't good or the food wasn't good....it is because it is damn expensive!
For the wake, Aaron's dad told us to get whatever we wanted....have fun. So we all got alcholic bevarages...I got a champagne cocktail, Aaron got some swanky beer, Dawn got some wine and Mark had some wine and 21 year old scotch. We started off with some crab cakes and scallops for an appetizer. YUMMY!
Before the main course, salads came out and that was yummy...I love the wedge-like salads!
For the main course, I got the double cut filet mignon (butterflyed), Aaron got the porterhouse, as did Mark....and Dawn got a bone in Ribeye. OMG...seriously..you know how some people say a steak melts in your mouth...yeah...I never believed that...but now I DO! That steak was amazing....by FAR the best steak I have ever eaten in my life and it did in fact melt in my mouth! We had a few side dishes to go along with the beef including aspargus, garlic mashed potatoes and spinach and mushrooms. I had a little mashed potatoes and they were pretty good, and I had aspargus and those were DELICIOUS! I didn't have the spinach and mushrooms but they all liked them.
Now....we were all STUFFED after eating everything we had so far, but we HAD to experience the dessert! Mark got some Carrot Cake and Dawn, Aaron and I shared a piece of cheesecake. Yum...Yum...Yum.
But mostly....I will NEVER forget that steak!...I don't think I can ever look at steak the same way again! Really...the steak at Morton's shouldn't even be called steak because it is so much better than that....it needs a new word..Heaven? I don't know, but something better than steak!
We had a great time and I am glad I got to be a part of his grandfathers wake....I think it was a great way to celebrate the memory of him.
