While watching one of the Food Network Challenges, Aaron and I discovered there is a yummy little cupcake place in San Francisco....the executive chef of the restaurant was participating in the cupcake challenge shown on the food network! So we decided we would head on up to S.F. today and munch on some of these cupcakes to see what we thought of them!
We took Aaron's Ridgeline and found great parking (a structure) on Mission and we walked to the Virgin Mega Store...Citizen Cupcake was supposed to be on the 3rd floor of this building....when we got there this is what we found....

This location was closed! So we followed the note and decided to walk to 4th and Bryant to head onto the Citzen Cake Kiosk at Orson.....this walk was a bit longer than the note said (5 blocks), but not too bad...only problem was, we were getting out of my comfort zone for S.F....we pushed through and found it....and this is what we found...

Closed again! CRAP! This has become a treasure hunt for cupcakes...but if you know me, I will push forward for a cupcake! We called Aaron's mom, who works in S.F., and had her google the restaraunt...she found another address and she gave us directions and the restaraunt phone number......we walked back to the car and drove to this location.
Here are some pictures of S.F. that I randomly took while trying to find this place...

Aaron says these toilets clean themselves after every use...seriously..does this really happen....I need confirmation!...and how can I install self-cleaning bathrooms in my house?

This isn't super clear because I took it while we were in the car....but it was very San Francisco'y'....there is graffiti everywhere!
So we follow Dawn's directions and guess what! We found it...and wait...it is OPEN!

Some cute artwork inside the cafe
We ate at the cafe...I had 2 poached eggs over roasted potatoes and ham and Aaron had a sausage omelet with a side of roasted potatoes....the food was pretty good....not exceptional, but good....but the service was HORRIBLE! I definitely would not go back to the cafe....but I didn't come for the cafe...I came for the cupcakes! We bought 6 different pastries from the pastry shop...

Chocolate Cupcake: Good Cupcake...but not good enough to drive 1 hour for it...

Vanilla Cupcake: Good cupcake...heavy vanilla flavor...I prefer the chocolate cupcake to this vanilla one.

Sticky Toffee Cupcake: The cupcake is filled with Toffee and topped with a with coconut cream cheese....OMG....YUMMY! This cupcake was DELICIOUS! Seriously...SUPER DELICIOUS!...I don't even like coconut..at all...and this cupcake was phenomenal!

Citizen Signature Cupcake: This cupcake was OK....I prefer my safeway cupcake to this one....it was much like those hostess treats with the white filling in the middle....neither Aaron or myself were impressed.

After Midnight: This was 3 layer type pastry...the bottom was chocolate cupcake, topped with chocolate mousse and then covered with chocolate ganache....YUM, YUM, YUM...this was delicious!!

Lemon Meringue Tart: MMMmmmmm Lemon!! This was FANTASTIC!! I absolutely LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this!
Overall, it was a fun trip....it is always fun to do something you have never done before and try things you have never tried before....and it is always more fun when I do these things with Aaron....even if the food is a dissappointment (which it wasn't)....the company never is!
