4th of July Fondant Cake

So today was my second go at making a cake using fondant. This time I did a few things differently....including making my own marshmallow fondant instead of buying pre-made fondant...it is supposed to taste much, much better!

Here are some pictures of me making it....
Making the fondant....It is melted marshmallow and powdered sugar (and hands covered in crisco because the stuff sticks like crazy!)

I am actually pretty happy with the way it came out.....I know it could be better...probably lots better but I think it came out pretty great....especially since I am just doing it for fun with no classes/lessons. What I am most excited about though is to eat it...I think it is going to be DELICIOUS!
