Po-Po at 1 AM!

So last night, as Aaron and I are dead asleep (at 1:00am), I wake up to Harley barking (good girl!) and then notice someone knocking on the door....I wake Aaron up who is a little slower to hearing the knocking...the knocking continues, and then the door bell rings...then louder...I freaked out...called 911. I called Libby to see if it was her (it wasn't) and asked her if she could see anything, and she didn't see anyone...this was after the knocking and ringing stopped (they probably knocked 4x and rang the doorbell 3x)...All I was thinking, who in the hell is doing this in the middle of the night?

Anyhow, so I called 911 from my cell and of course, can't get through. And we dont' have a land line upstairs...but then a couple minutes later a call came in and it was the cops and they asked what the deal was and everything so I gave them the scoop...the cops were at the house about 5 minutes later.

We go outside and this is how the conversation goes:

Cop: So what happened?

Aaron: I guess someone was knocking...my wife heard and woke me up. (Seriously..how do men sleep so deep?? Harley was in bed with us...BARKING...LOUDLY...the door bell rings and someone is knocking on the door...how do you not wake up to this?)

Me: Yea, I woke up to someone knocking on the door, and my dog barking...and then the rang the door bell...they probably knocked on the door 4x and rang the door bell 4x.

Cop: Did you see anyone? Ask who it was?

Me: No....I was scared and just called the cops.

Someone comes from around the corner....It is a neighbor

Neighbor: Oh my goodness..did you call the cops?

Me: yes (as he then goes on)

Neighbor: It was us...you left the light on in your car and we wanted to let you know.

Me: Oh my gosh...LoL

So I feel like a total tool for calling out these cops because our neighbors knocked on our door to let us know that Aaron left the light on in his car! But then as I kept thinking about it...HOLY CRAP! 1 AM!! Really, I didn't know people went out for walks at 1 AM! (which is why they saw it)...I personally (and maybe I am horrible)...I wouldn't knock and ring the doorbell SEVERAL times at 1AM to let someone know that their car light is on!...Seriously..I was freaked...I would have much rather woken up to a dead battery...we could have just jumped it...I appreciate their helpfulness, but I was so freaked out that I didn't really care about the car!! I was shaking!

And maybe some people would have just asked who was at the door, but that was totally not my first instinct...Aaron grabbed a knife, I grabbed a bat and the dog! And I am sure that past experiences effect the way I reacted whether logical or not!
